Norma Jean Jones
Norma Jean Jones, a longtime resident of Inyokern, passed away on Oct. 21, 2013 from a battle with ALS. She was 74.
A celebration of Norma’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 2, at the American Legion in Ridgecrest. She will be interred at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, Calif.
Norma was born in Gary, Ind., on April 25, 1939, to Herbert and Helen Wells. Norma was married to Gilbert Jones. They were a proud Navy family that finally made their roots in the Indian Wells Valley. Norma worked for different defense contractors as a facility security officer, retiring from Electronic Warfare Associates in 2010.
Gilbert and Norma spent time fishing and camping in the Sierra Nevada and caring for their orchards. She loved to collect trinkets and spend time with her pets. She also loved to read, especially romance novels. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Norma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Marilyn Jones; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tammy Jones; her daughter, Donna Moncada; her grandchildren, Eric, Cory, Dayvea, Tyler, Nathan, Devin and Austin, three great-grandchildren and her brother Gary Wells.
