Jannie Ree Burson
Jannie Ree Burson passed away on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, in her home in Ridgecrest. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Ministry Center, 1201 N. China Lake Blvd., with graveside services to follow at Desert Memorial Park.
Jannie was born on Sept. 24, 1926, to Baskin and Lela Douglas in El Dorado, Ark. She married William “Bill” Burson on March 29, 1946. Early in their 66-year marriage, they lived in Jonesboro, La. They moved to Ridgecrest in 1948. Bill got a civil service job at the Naval Ordnance Test Station, and Jannie was a stay-at-home mom, rearing four children and doing day care in her home.
She loved animals and had many dogs during her lifetime. She loved gardening, especially her roses. Jannie loved to travel to places like Santa Barbara, Laughlin and Bishop, especially during Mule Days. She enjoyed all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Jannie is survived son David Burson and wife Alison of Ridgecrest; daughters Rita Read and husband David of Ridgecrest, Wanda Gregarek of Ridgecrest and Shirley Stair of Lake Isabella; grandchildren Sheila and husband Rick McLeod, David Stair, Brian Gregarek, Alisha and husband D.J. Jenkins, Amber and husband Eddie Holliday and Nicholas Burson; and great-grandchildren Alexus and Audra McLeod, Piper Jenkins, Aiden Holliday and Lilly Stair. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, and three brothers, D. E. Douglas, Wallace L. Douglas and Morris Douglas.
Arrangements were by Holland & Lyons Mortuary.
