Teens to seek the unknown
By MARSHA LLOYD, Ridgecrest Branch Librarian
The Ridgecrest Branch Library is celebrating Teen Read Week Oct. 13-19 this year with the theme “Seek the Unknown @ Your Library!”
Teen Read Week is a national adolescent literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association in 1998.
Held annually during the third week of October, Teen Read Week’s purpose is to encourage teens to be regular readers and library users.
For more than 50 years, YALSA has worked to build the capacity of libraries and librarians to engage, serve and empower teens.
We have a display in the local library’s “Teen Zone” of books to help teens seek the unknown! Nearby in the Zone is also a continuing display of new titles for teens and young adults. The library also has magazines, graphic novels and manga series of interest to teens and young adults.
