Council to meet tonight

The Ridgecrest City Council will hear updates on parks and budget projections at tonight’s meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers.

Mayor Dan Clark will present a proclamation recognizing October as Energy Awareness Month. The presentation is at the request of Kern Council of Governments. The proclamation will be presented by representative of Kern Watch, which works with the city toward green energy efforts.

Interim Recreation Coordinator Jason Patin will present an update on city programs. No additional information was available at press time.

The city will also pass an ordinance amending the municipal code to allow conditional use permits for towers in excess of 35 feet in certain residential areas.

City Finance Director Rochelle McQuiston will present an update on budget projections. Additional information was not available at press time.

Items on the consent calendar include a resolution accepting a post-employment benefits actuarial study, a resolution authorizing application and acceptance of a grant to hire police officers, a resolution authorizing new furniture for the police department and proclamations honoring Relay For Life and Native American Heritage Month.

The public is invited to attend. Proceedings will be broadcast live on Mediacom channels 6 and 41, and streamed on (search “Ridgecrest”).
