China Lake retiree appreciation day registration deadline is Dec. 13

The annual China Lake Retiree/Alumni Appreciation Day is scheduled for Nov. 1. This year’s events are being combined with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Walleye TV-guided glide bomb. A new exhibit at the China Lake Museum will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony that afternoon.

Mallory Boyd, deputy director for research and engineering at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, will host the presentations for the event. Program presentations will be held at the Dr. William B. McLean Lab from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

This year’s luncheon will be $15, with Oct. 18 the deadline for registering. The luncheon will be held at the Paradise Café, China Lake, from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There are nearly 1,100 retirees registered in the China Lake retiree/alumni database. Of those, more than 60 have 40 years of service, more than 200 have 35 or more years of service, and more than 300 have 30 or more years of service.

Any retiree who wants to attend and does not have a base pass should obtain a DOD pass ahead of time or call the Retired Activities Office (RAO) to have his/her name placed on a list by Oct. 18 to submit to Security for approval.
