CHP and RPD to help with child safety seat info Sept. 27
Officers from the California Highway Patrol and the Ridgecrest Police Department will be on hand Friday, Sept. 27, at the Walmart shopping center to make sure child safety seats are installed properly to provide the maximum protection for infants, toddlers, or young children.
Fingerprinting will also be provided by the Ridgecrest Police Department.
The Child Safety Seat Checkup Event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wal-Mart shopping center located at 911 S. China Lake Blvd.
Concerned parents or guardians who would like their child seats inspected and adjusted are encouraged to meet with the officers and technicians during this time.
Child Safety Seat certified technicians from both the Ridgecrest Police Department and the California Highway Patrol will inspect the seats for compliance with safety rules, determining whether they are subject to any recalls and whether or not they’re properly equipped and installed.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 3 to 14.
