Adding creativity to your photography

The public is invited to the next meeting of the China Lake Photographic Society to meet Cheryl McDonald, local fine-art photographer, creator of the Maturango Museum exhibit called “Abandonment Issues,” that featured images of our abandoned past and a new book by the same name.

The meeting will be on Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Maturango Museum, beginning at 7 p.m.; doors will open at 6:45. There is no fee; however, donations are accepted.

McDonald will lead a discussion on the creative process and how to take more interesting photos. She will provide examples of before-and-after images and share tips on how to connect with audiences on a more personal level.

As a professional artist for many years, McDonald has mastered the elements of design and will provide audience members with the tools to take their photography to the next level.

Participants will learn how to use techniques such as composition, light and image processing, as well as how to start thinking in more creative ways in order to compose, shoot, process and display more engaging photographs.
