Autumn dance set for Sept. 21

Autumn dance set for Sept. 21As the 17-piece Big Band X-Press celebrates autumn by swinging into beloved dance tunes, featured vocalist Brian Cosner will bring his musicianship and energy to such well-loved songs as “Fly Me to the Moon,” “Hello, Dolly,” “It Had To Be You” and “What a Wonderful World.”

The BBX Autumn Dance will take place Saturday, Sept. 21, 7:30-10:30 p.m., in a venue that’s just made for the group’s swinging tunes — the Historic USO Building. The public is invited, and tickets are $10 per person at the door. Dancers will be lured out onto the floor by the ensemble’s big-band sounds.

There will be free snacks at each table and a no-host bar. Local dance teacher Ken Sanger will offer free dance lessons 6:30-7:15 p.m.

The Big Band X-Press is a nonprofit organization that provides ballroom dance music for local community events and supports music programs in local schools. Half the proceeds from Saturday’s dance will go to the Historical Society of the Upper Mojave Desert.
