RCPD seeks shooting suspect
Ridgecrest Police officers are seeking Robert Martinez, 18, in connection with a possible attempted murder that happened last Friday night.
At 5:08 p.m. on Aug. 30, a 911 call came in to the police dispatcher, reporting that a person’s car was shot at and hit at approximately the corner of West Las Flores Avenue and North Norma Street in Ridge-crest.
The caller reported that the shooter was seen running southbound on Peg Street.
When officers arrived on scene, the reporting person told them he had been shot at while driving his vehicle in the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints on North Norma Street. The shooting apparently followed a confrontation in the same parking lot.
The victim was not injured, but his vehicle showed signs of damage consistent with that of several bullets impacting the hood and windshield.
Patrol officers and detectives worked together to locate additional involved persons and to recover a revolver suspected to be the weapon used in the shooting.
The primary suspect, Martinez, is a Ridgecrest resident. He is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
If you know of his whereabouts, please call the Ridgecrest Police at 499-5100.Story First Published: 2013-09-04
