Suspect arrested for local shooting

Daniel Olivas, suspect in an attempted murder shooting in Ridgecrest, has been apprehended in Sun Valley. He is now in custody in Kern County.

The shooting occurred in the 100 block of West Wilson Avenue on July 25. The victim was transported to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital for treatment, then airlifted to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield. During the investigation, Ridgecrest Police officers and detectives obtained information implicating Olivas, 31, as the primary suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained for Olivas and a press release issued listing Olivas as being at large and considered armed and dangerous. He is currently on parole as a felon in possession of a firearm.

With the help of the Los Angeles Police Department, Olivas was located and arrested Aug. 13 in the 12000 block of Pendleton Street in Sun Valley.

The suspect was later transported and booked at the Kern County Jail by Ridgecrest police detectives. His bail is set at $500,000.
