Salvation Army announces last-minute shortages

This summer the Salvation Army has been gathering school supply donations from the community for the annual Back-to-School Drive. With school starting next week, some specific items are needed to get the job done.

“Items we are short on are glue sticks, 3-ring binders ‘Big’ erasers, Hi-lighters and composition notebooks. We also could use dark- color backpacks, but all other items are still needed, too,” said Envoy Donna Griffin.

When the student has a new backpack and other necessary items, that youngster can attend school those first few weeks focusing on the importance of education.

Other school supplies — notebooks, pencils, pens, folders, crayons, markers, composition books, notebook paper, scissors, rulers, and calculators — are also needed. All supplies can be dropped off at the Salvation Army.

Monetary donations are also welcome and can be mailed to the Salvation Army, PO Box 189, Ridgecrest, CA 93556 or dropped off at the Salvation Army, 151 N. Downs St.

Mark “for school supplies” in the memo area of checks. For more information, call Griffin at 760-375-7219.
