Peace officers’ Level II Academy

Cerro Coso Community College is offering a Basic Peace Officers Level II Modular Academy this fall in Ridgecrest for those who have completed Level III training and are interested in careers in law enforcement.

ADMJ C-143 (CRN 72460) – is designed to fulfill California Peace Officer Standards and Training requirements for Level II academy certification. The course prepares students to successfully make the transition to the Basic Academy Modular Level I course.

Interested individuals must have successfully passed ADMJ C142 Basic Peace Officer Academy Level III with a minimum grade of C, must meet current (within last three years) PC 832 Arrest and Firearms training requirements, must have trainng current in conformance with requirements of Regulation 1080 and must have passed the Constructed Compre-hensive Module III End-of-Course Proficiency Test within the preceding 12 months.

Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-10 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Aug. 12. For more information on the Basic Peace Officer Academy contact Interim Public Safety Director, Stephan Rogers, at 760-384-6304.

Degital media arts online

CCCC also offers a variety of digital media arts classes online designed to prepare students for employment or self-employment in the web industry.

DMA C111 (70121) – Funda-mentals of Web Development is an entry-level course designed to provide students with the skills they need to create webpages in XHTML and CSS using a text editor. This course emphasizes current web standards, including code validation, semantics and separating content from style. Micro formats and modern web trends are also discussed.

DMA C201 (70124) – E-Commerce will provide students with a foundation for market analysis, business administration, sales and marketing, management, customer service development and financial planning. Completion of DMA C111 with a grade of C or better is required to take this course.

DMA C213 (70125) – Web Development with PHP and MySQL. This class will provide students with the skills they need to create dynamic webpages with PHP and MySQL.

Students will explore practical applications of PHP including web form data processing, work with MySQL databases and read and write text files.
