Suspect sought for attempted murder

The Ridgecrest Police Depart-ment issued a call for tips on the whereabouts of 31-year-old Daniel Olivas, who is wanted on suspicion for attempted murder.
The suspect, a Ridgecrest resident, is described as a Hispanic male approximately 5 feet 10 inches in height and 220 pounds.
Police responded to a call of shots fired at the 100 block of West Wilson on Thursday, July 25. A victim of the shooting was found at the scene, and was transported to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital for treatment.
He was later airlifted to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield.
During the investigation, officers and detectives gathered leads implicating Olivas as the main suspect. RPD has issued a warrant for his arrest.
Olivas is on state parole for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is still at large and considered dangerous. RPD urged witnesses not to contact the subject, but to call the police department at 760-499-5100.Story First Published: 2013-07-31
