Rep. Kevin McCarthy and Kern County 1st District Supervisor Mick Gleason will co-host a community forum on Monday, Aug. 5, 11 a.m.-noon, at the Desert Valleys Federal Credit Union Community Room.

Gleason said that one of his hopes for the forum is that the collected interests of the Indian Wells Valley can collaborate to identify goals and grow local leadership.

“This is going to be a really good opportunity to have a brainstorming session to find ways to build activities within the community that will protect and promote local interests.”

He said that quality of life, business development and support of the Navy’s mission are his three main areas of focus. “I have some ideas that I’d like to put before the community, and we want to get community leaders together to hear their thoughts and ideas as well.”

Gleason said his vision is that a cross section of the community — including people representing education, business, faith-based and community-service organizations — will attend.

“This is about making an investment in our community and growing leadership that truly reflects the citizens and the goals of this valley.”

To attend, RSVP by calling 661-327-3611 or e-mailing rsvp.mccarthy@mail.house.gov.
