Child Spree donations needed for Aug. shopping event
The Ridgecrest Kiwanis Club will provide $80 of new school clothing for each of 38 needy children at its annual Child Spree, to be held on Saturday, Aug. 3.
In addition, a 10-percent discount is being offered to the children by the Ridgecrest Kmart store, where the event will be held.
“This is such an exciting and worthwhile program,” said Yolanda Dahms, who is spearheading the program.
“I am so extremely grateful to Kiwanis for all these years of providing clothing for the children of our community.”
A spokesperson for the Ridgecrest Kiwanis Club said the club is thankful to Kmart for providing generous sponsorship and to these local businesses for their generous donations: High Sierra Auto, Windows, Walls ‘n’ Floors and Gary Charlon Insurance.
Kiwanis welcomes participation by community volunteers to shop with the young Child Spree participants.
Those interested in volunteering should call Dahms at 76-382-3167 or Virginia Henry at 760-377-0010.
Monetary donations may be sent to Ridgecrest Kiwanis Club, P. O. Box 42, Ridgecrest, CA 93556.Story First Published: 2013-07-17
