Gary Lee Belvin
Gary Lee Belvin passed away May 3, 2013, in Norman, Okla., following a long struggle with heart disease and strokes. He was 64.
A memorial service was held on May 7 in Moore, Okla., followed by internment at Lindsay, Okla.
Gary was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Delano, Calif., to Eulys and Lois Belvin. He grew up in Ridgecrest and graduated from Burroughs High School in 1966. He went on to earn an associate’s degree from Bakersfield Junior College. He also attended the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma at Chickasha.
Gary was a businessman and over the years ran many stores, including the Arco gas station (later the AM/PM mini-mart) in Ridgecrest, a Pizza Inn, a Love’s mini-mart and others. He loved playing cards, and enjoyed his time as a blackjack dealer at the Thunderbird Casino near Norman. He enjoyed reading, the movies and his family, and he never gave up on his Dodgers.
Gary is survived by his wife of 31 years, Debbie; two daughters, Jennifer Elder and Desirae Johnson; three sons, Kelly Belvin, Christopher Belvin and Jason Board; four grandchildren, Casey Ballew, Ethan Belvin and Trey and Gavin Belvin; his mother Lois Belvin; brother David Belvin and sister Cindy Wallis.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eulys Belvin.
