Patricia Ann Homer

Patricia Ann Homer Patricia Ann Homer passed away on June 20, 2013, at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital, in Ridgecrest.

A memorial service will be held in Ridgecrest at a later date to be determined.

Pat was born on July 21, 1939, in Ropesville, Texas, to Hubert (HH) and Wilma Luck Bevers. She grew up in Ropesville and Amarillo before moving to Lovington, NM, where she graduated from Lovington High School. She loved performing as a cheerleader for the Lovington Wildcats. While in high school, she married Paul Homer. They were happily married for more than 56 years.

After high school Pat and Paul moved to Socorro, N.M., where Paul attended New Mexico Tech. After four years in Socorro, the family moved here and has lived in China Lake and Ridgecrest for more than 51 years.

Pat worked as a telephone operator while in Socorro, and later as a “fashion consultant” with the Wildflower Dress Shop in Ridgecrest. She finished her working career at the NWC Federal Credit Union, where she advanced from receptionist to special assistant to the manager during a 15-year span. Pat was a good trainer, and taught several new tellers and loan officers how to do their job.

Her community and service activities included the PTA and teacher’s assistant, Cub Scout and Brownie den mother, WACOM, the Birthday Club, and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She especially enjoyed the Beta Sigma Phi holiday fashion shows, where she did both modeling and narrating.

Pat is survived by husband, Paul Homer, of Ridgecrest; daughter, Zindi Lou (Les) Bazemore, of Bakersfield; son, Jony (Linda) Homer of Ridgecrest; son, Karl (Angelina) Homer of San Diego; her brother, Jimmy (Donna) of Show Low, Ariz.; brother, Ted (Vicki) Bevers of Odessa, Texas, Aunt Mary Lee Bernard of Bakersfield; and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H.H. and Wilma Luck Bevers, and by two brothers, Jerry L. and Jack W. Bevers.

Pat was a loving and very proud grandmother to grandchildren, Trevor (Brandi) Bazemore, Shelbey (Eric) Frias, Allyson (Jason) Swen, all of Bakersfield; and Paul James Homer of Ridgecrest.

The family requests that donations in the memory of Pat be made to the China Lake Museum Foundation, P.O. Box 219, Ridgecrest, CA 93556.
