Kowalchick finishes top five in CrossFit competition

Kowalchick finishes top five in CrossFit competitionJanet Kowalchick, one of four local competors, placed fifth in the Fittest of the Sierras, a CrossFit competition held June 16-17 in South Lake Tahoe.

Kowalchick, Jessica Harlow, Kristy Park and Lisa Zavala, all from CrossFit Ridgecrest, compe-ted in the field of more than 45 top female athletes from the Sierra Nevada region.

Competitors faced five grueling workouts of the day that tested their endurance, agility and physi-cal and mental strength.

“I could not have done any of this without the awesome support of everyone at CrossFit Ridgecrest, and my family and friends around the country,” Kowalchick said. She is the owner of CrossFit Ridgecrest,

The Fittest of the Sierras competition was a fundraiser for the Growing Worldwide Opportunity Foundation, a grant-making, public charity founded on Judeo-Christian values that support grassroots organizations that create sustain-able opportunities for global citizens in need.
