We Celebrate With Pride!
News Review Editorial
America’s birthday we celebrate on the fourth of July to commemorate adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress in July 1776.
Our founders considered it as being an occasion to rejoice. John Adams said “I’m apt to believe … that for generations it ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parades, bonfires and illuminations from one end of the continent to the other from this time forward and forevermore.”
Thanks to the Lions Club for the powerful display of fireworks and the celebration the club makes happen at the Desert Empire Fairgrounds each year. Thanks also to the businesses and other sponsors who donate to the fireworks fund annually. This is a powerful statement of the level of patriotism demonstrated in our community.
This celebration makes an indelible impression on the lives of our children as to the importance this community places on such a patriotic event.
As we encourage and teach them why we so enthusiastically celebrate this day, it helps instill a stronger sense of patriotism in them.
