DCC expands outreach
Desert Christian Center, known in recent years for offereing “Love Unplugged” as a ministry visiting local parks with music, food and fun for families, has expanded its local outreach program to include movies. DCC is also offering “Kid’s Krusade,” a vacation Bible school.
“God has given Desert Christian Center a heart for the city of Ridgecrest. Love Unplugged brings live music and a barbeque/picnic atmosphere to those who come. Real life stories where God has made a difference are shared by people from all walks of life,” said Pastor David Schad.
The community is invited to Love Unplugged every third Sunday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at LeRoy Jackson Park. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit back and enjoy the festivities.
“Movie Night Under the Stars” is a new addition to Love Unplugged. Movies with Godly, positive, moral values can be seen in a local park during the cooler hours of the evening. “This is a time and season in our country where people need to be inspired and encouraged. Movie Nights provide a safe place for individuals and families to receive that,” said Schad.
The next Movie Night is at Upjohn Park on Friday, June 28, at 8 p.m. It is a free event, with popcorn for everyone.
Kid’s Krusade is a free summer event for pre-kindergartners through 6th grade. “Be prepared for a high-energy, action-filled time and to get wet and messy,” said Toni Buck, Children’s Ministry director of Desert Christian Center. This year’s theme is “Who’s Your Hero?”
“We will follow the life of Saul/Paul as he finds out who the one true hero is — God,” said Buck. This event at Desert Christian Center starts on Sunday, June 23, 10 a.m. and continues Monday-Thursday, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. You may pre-register your child at the church office or by calling 760-375-9954.
Desert Christian Center is located at 100 E. Bataan St., across from Walmart. Love Unplugged, Movie Night, and Kid’s Krusade are outreach ministries of DCC. Please call 760-375-9954 for more information.Story First Published: 2013-06-12
