Rape suspect arrested

Ridgecrest Police Department officers located a 13-year-old girl at the corner of Argus Avenue and Sanders Street at 4:08 a.m. on May 26. The juvenile stated that she had been at a party and raped. Detectives were called out to investigate.

During the investigation, it was discovered that two juvenile females had been contacted by a suspect in the afternoon of May 25. Reportedly the suspect asked the two girls to come to a party and provided them with alcohol. While intoxicated, one of the juveniles stated that the suspect raped her.

Detective Sloan obtained a search warrant for a residence. During the search of the residence, evidence was reportedly collected corroborating victim and witness statements. As a result of the investigation, the suspect, Rouege Lamar Stoudemire, 23, a resident of Ridgecrest, was arrested and booked at the Kern County Jail on charges of rape of a drugged victim, sex with a minor under 16 years of age, lewd acts with a child under 14, contact with a minor with intent of a sexual act and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Stoudemire was arraigned on felony charges on May 29. His next hearing is June 4 in connection with these charges. He is being held at Central Receiving Facility in Bakersfield on $120,000 bail.
