Desert Community Orchestra to present Young ArtistsThe Desert Community Orch-estra Association will present “A Touch of Class,” its Young Artists’ concert, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at the Burroughs High School Performing Arts Center.

The orchestra will feature three very talented young soloists in the first half of the program. Ruthie Hill, age 16, will be the piano soloist for Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto in G Minor, 3rd Movement. Korinza Shlanta, age 19, and Sarah McDonald, age 18, will each sing beautiful arias from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” (“The Magic Flute”).

The orchestra will accompany the young artists, also performing the overture from “Die Zauber-flöte” and “Pictures at an Exhibi-tion” by Modest Mussorgsky.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at the door or at Red Rock Books in advance.
