SSUSD board to meet THursday

The Sierra Sands Unified School District Board of Education will meet Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 100 S. California Ave. The meeting is open to the public.

There will be two special meetings. At 6 p.m. in the same location, the board will meet in closed session to hear an appeal pertaining to one employee. The second special meeting will be held during the regular meeting, as a meeting of the Inyo-Kern Schools Financing Authority regarding the adoption of the board’s meeting calendar for the 2013-14 school year.

Among the items on the regular-meeting agenda are the citizen’s oversight committee annual report, a public hearings relative to the collective bargaining process between the board and several employee union groups, a public hearing related to the use of 2013-14 Tier III State Categorical Funds, approval of an advanced-placement chemistry course at Burroughs High School, annual review of the Regional Occupational Program and proposed receipt and use of 2013-14 Tier III State Categorical Funds.
