Gateway gives to ’Beautiful Lengths’Hair flies at Gateway School as 23 people have their hair cut and 18 additional ponytails are donated during an April 11 assembly sponsoring the Beautiful Lengths Campaign. Nine hairdressers volunteered their time to help with the event. “I am so proud of the people who took part to make a difference in someone’s life. This is my third year putting this assembly together. It amazes me how caring and giving people can be,” said Ann Marie Lusher, event organizer. The goal was to try and get more than 25 participants to beat last year’s goal, she added. Wigs are created from the donated hair and distributed free through American Cancer Society wig banks across the country. About six ponytails are needed to make one wig. “Every ponytail will make a difference,” said Lusher.
