Marvin Wayne Nelson
Marvin Wayne Nelson of Inyokern died April 10, 2013. He was 60.
Viewing is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the H.K. Holland Memorial Chapel, 216 S. Norma St., Ridgecrest. Dr. Ed Jayne will officiate.
Marvin was born Sept. 23, 1952, in Bakersfield, to Phillip Magnus Nelson and Dorothy Jean Hill Nelson. He served in the U. S. Army from 1972 to 1980.
He was a self-employed heavy equipment mechanic and retired in 2010, after 20 years in the field.
Marvin enjoyed fishing, outdoor sports, motorcycle riding in competitions, drag racing, horseback riding, and horse and dog training.
He is survived by his father Phillip Nelson of Ridgecrest, son Jim Nelson of Reno, Nev., and grandson Travis Ryan.
Marvin was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Jean Nelson, and brother, Paul Edward Nelson.
Burial will take place at Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin.
