Linda Bouse, age 70, of Ridgecrest, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, in Bakersfield, from cancer-related complications.
Services were held at Ridgecrest United Methodist Church on Monday, April 8.
Linda was born May 8, 1942, in Abilene, Kan. She attended high school and junior college in Hutchinson, Kan., and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan.
Linda met Bob in Hutchinson on a blind date while in college, and they were married on August 20, 1964. They moved to Ridgecrest in 1972 and have been part of the community ever since.
Linda’s career spanned several activities including teaching, owning and managing a local retail store, running a catering business and making cakes. Cooking was one of the central joys of her life, partly because she liked to do it and partly because it made others happy.
She was a founding member of the High Desert Junior Woman’s Club and eventually served as president of both the local chapter and the San Bernardino District. She also found time to volunteer extensively for the Methodist Church, WACOM and numerous other local functions.
Friends made the story of Linda’s life, and she held them close to her heart. She always looked on the sunny side of things and took a special joy in other people’s happiness. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother who lived life to the fullest, playing bridge with friends, playing piano and traveling with her husband Bob. She touched many people’s lives and will be forever missed because all our lives were made better by that touch.
Linda is survived by her husband Robert, son Timothy (Gillian) Bouse, son Robert (Claudia) Bouse of Bakersfield, sister Karen (Robert) Pinkall of Salina, Kan., sister Diane (Martie) Floyd of Johnson, Kan., two grandchildren and her extended family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
