Screenwriter-producer Mark Boal shows off a T-shirt from China Lake EODTEU One, presented to him by F. Gary Hareland on behalf of Explosive Ordnance Disposal at China Lake. Boal won an Academy Award for writing “The Hurt Locker,” which was about EOD in the Middle East. EODTEU stands for Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training and Evaluation Detachment One. Boal’s latest movie is “Zero Dark Thirty.” Hareland said Boal was happy and appreciative to receive the shirt and asked Hareland to convey his thanks to EOD on base. Hareland met with Boal at a Writers Guild Foundation presentation on “Anatomy of a Script.”
