BHS Drama to present ’All Shook Up’
The Burroughs High School Drama Department will proudly present the musical, “All Shook Up” to Ridgecrest. The comical love story featuring the music of Elvis Presley can be enjoyed at the Parker Performing Arts Center on April 5, 6, 12 and 13.
Chad (Cameron LaBrie), a rock-n-roll roustabout, rides into a small middle-of-nowhere town on his motorcycle, looking for a mechanic.
There he meets Natalie Haller (Jamie Agostinacci), a girl more comfortable wearing grease-stained overalls than a dress. Natalie falls for Chad instantly, but Chad has no time for a relationship. That is, until he meets Miss Sandra (Samantha Harrison), the gorgeous curator of the town museum. Chad is stunned by her beauty and plans to win her heart.
When Mayor Matilda (Krista Castillo) learns of the trouble Chad is causing in town she is not pleased, and she vows to keep order with the help of Sheriff Earl (Steven Busby). Meanwhile the widower, Jim Haller (Richard Thomas), Natalie’s dad, also falls hard for Miss Sandra.
With Chad having fallen for Miss Sandra, Natalie creates the alter ego “Ed” in hopes of catching his attention.
With her new personality, Natalie tries to get closer to Chad by being “one of the guys.” Meanwhile, Natalie’s best friend, clean-cut nice guy Dennis (Mathew Jackson), tries to show his feelings for her.
While Jim is busy chasing Miss Sandra, Sylvia (Naomi Grim), the owner of the local honkytonk, falls for Jim. And to make matters worse, Dean Hyde (Joey Davis), the military-raised son of Matilda, and Lorraine (Jamauri James) the daughter of Sylvia, fall for each other.
With all these love triangles happening, this musical is sure to be a treat. Tickets are $12 presale at Red Rock Books or student sales, or get them at the door for $15. Be sure to buy tickets early.Story First Published: 2013-03-27
