Boske named to Academic All-State
The California Com-munity College Women’s Basketball Coaches As-sociation recently named Taylor Boske to the California Academic All-State team in recognition of her academic achievement.
A sophomore shooting guard on the basketball team at Cerro Coso, Boske is one of five women basketball players in California to receive this honor.
She holds a 3.89 grade-point average at the college and will play in the Sophomore Showcase at the Final Four Tournament in Sacramento next month.
Named Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Offense in the 2011-2012 season, Boske led the conference in scoring by more than 18 points per game and made the Foothill Conference All-Conference First Team for the last two years winning a three-point contest last year.
“Basketball motivates me to stay on top of my studies and get good grades, and it keeps me physically fit,” said Taylor. “I feel fortunate to have been able to play basketball and get my college education off to a good start locally at Cerro Coso Community College.”
Born and raised in Ridgecrest, Taylor is the oldest of three girls. She plans to pursue a degree in liberal arts, majoring in kinesiology, and become an athletic trainer or physical therapist.
Alhough she has already been accepted to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and San Francisco State University, she is anxiously waiting to hear from other California universities.Story First Published: 2013-03-06
