Parolee arrested amid crime spree
A 21-year-old parolee was arrested for allegedly tampering with and stealing from around some 15 vehicles in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 2.
According to a press release by Ridgecrest Police Department Sgt. Mike Atkins, “At about 3:40 a.m., a resident in the 700 block of W. Coral Ave. was awakened by his dog barking.
“When the resident investigated, he discovered that his vehicle door was open and the interior light was on.”
Police officers were dispatched and conducted a search of the area, revealing evidence in multiple locations near 700 W. Coral Ave. The crime spree encompassed a large area to include Allen, Bataan, Wildrose and Coral, Atkins reported.
Junior Contreras, a Ridgecrest resident, was found on foot in the area. Evidence collected at the scene reportedly linked Contreras to the crime.
Contreras was transported to the Ridgecrest Kern County Jail where he was booked for alleged prowling, possession of stolen property, theft and a parole hold.Story First Published: 2013-03-06
