CLOTA offers BHS drama scholarship

The Community Light Opera and Theatre Association seeks to award a $500 scholarship to one Burroughs High School senior with college plans and experience in the performing arts.

All eligible BHS seniors are encouraged to apply now for the CLOTA-administered Ken Arm-strong Memorial Scholarship. The Armstrong family has endowed the scholarship in loving memory of Ken Armstrong, who contributed endless hours to CLOTA.

Graduating seniors who have participated in any area of the performing arts — music, drama or dance (whether onstage or backstage) — are eligible for the scholarship, which will be presented at the Burroughs annual scholarship awards assembly.

To be eligible, an applicant must be planning to continue formal education as a full-time student at an accredited college or vocational school.

To be considered for the scholarship, each application must be sent to CLOTA, P.O. Box 957, Ridgecrest, CA 93556, with a postmark no later than Sunday, March 17. Interviews will be conducted in early April.

All applicants will be notified of the date and time.

“Please encourage talented BHS seniors to apply,” said a CLOTA spokesperson. Applications will be available at the BHS scholarship office. For additional information, call Tricia Siegel at 760-375-3576.
