Salvation Army presents ’Souper Bowl’ dinner, auction

The 2013 “Souper Bowl IV” will be held at the Salvation Army Community Center, 151 N. Downs St., on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m.

The live and silent auction will include a Casey’s catered party for 10, U.S.S. Midway Museum tickets, unique creations by local artisans and more.

There will be raffle prizes and an evening of fun.

Tickets are $15 per person or $100 for a table of eight.

The fundraising event helps support the Salvation Army’s effort of “Doing the Most Good” for the Indian Wells Valley community – annually helping thousands of area residents through numerous programs.

Salvation Army programs in-clude Living Bread Ministries; assistance to families, singles, senior and homeless people in need of food and toiletries; emergency disaster relief; medical prescriptions, transportation, optical and dental work; infant risk prevention to assist teens, single moms and families in need; assistance with utilities and rent for individuals in emergency circumstances; and summer and senior camp scholarships.

Other programs include assisting homeless people, victims of house fires, families and individuals with donations of clothing, blankets, household items and toys.

The Salvation Army also provides holiday food baskets as well as a Bible study.
