The IWV Youth Football Junior Team will make its way to Antelope Valley High School this Saturday to take on the California City Ravens in the High Desert Youth Football Championship.

The Junior Team, led by Head Coach Jason Griffin, are currently 10- 0, and a win this weekend would not only earn them a championship for Ridgecrest and IWVYFC, but would also give  them that perfect season.

Griffin was recently named the High Desert Youth Football Junior Coach of the Year.  This honor was bestowed upon him by the league’s coaches and chapter presidents.  He was selected out of 11 head coaches in the Junior Division.

Griffin has led his 25 players and four assistant coaches on a grueling season that began in the middle of July.

The team’s five-month season comes to an end this weekend at Antelope Valley High School at 2:00 p.m. in the matchup against the 9-1 Cal City Ravens.

Teammembers hope that residents of the IWV will venture down to Antelope Valley Saturday to watch their final quest for a league championship.
