City Hall to hold Tree Lighting

The 12th Annual Community Tree Lighting and Christmas Caroling by Candlelight will be held Sunday, Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. in front of City Hall,.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring family, friends and neighbors, all joining in this Yuletide welcome.

Hosted by Mayor Ron Carter, the caroling and music program is being organized by Daniel Peterson, a long-time musical director in our Sierra Sands and Cerro Coso school systems.

Performing will be Sierra Sands Music Department students from Burroughs High School and Monroe and Murray middle schools, under the direction of Peterson, Simon Austin, Mark Hatter and Lisa Austin.

Local service clubs Altrusa, Exchange, Kiwanis, Lions, Optimist and Rotary, who create a “Christmas Tree Lane” in the City Hall Lobby, will light their decorated tress. City officials will also light trees. The community tree, located in the city traffic circle, will be lit by some special young person representing all local children.

Attendees are invited to stay and enjoy cold weather refreshments (hot cider and cookies) and each other.

City Information Desk volunteers at (760) 499-5015 will happily answer questions from Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
