All Faith celebrates All Saints

All Faith celebrates All SaintsCongregants of the Catholic Active Duty Congregation of Our Lady of the Desert at the Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake, celebrate the Eve of All Saints on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Rev. James Dowds, C.Ss.R., presided over the All Hallows Mass, and children arrived in their costumes eager for a chance to win first-, second- or third-place prizes. Halloween has been influenced by the Christian Holy Days of All Saints’ Day (also known as All Hallows, Hallowmas or Hallowtide) on Nov. 1 and All Souls’ Day on Nov, 2. They are a time for honoring the saints and praying for the recently departed who had yet to reach Heaven. Courtesy photo
