Burglary leads to arrest of two

An elderly woman returned to her residence located in the 1300 block of West Perch Avenue on Nov. 8 at about 11:20 a.m. after being gone for a couple of hours. She discovered that the front window of her residence had been forced open and approximately $5,000 in jewelry had been stolen out of her bedroom.

According to a report issued by Sgt. Miachel Scott, within a few minutes, deputies obtained information leading them to an address in the 1300 block of West St. George Avenue. Deputies conducted a probation search at 11:55 a.m. and recovered all of the stolen jewelry along with narcotic paraphernalia and burglary tools.

The residents, Janis Cupp and Rhonda Lechner, were both arrested for violation of residential burglary legislation, possession of stolen property, financial elder abuse, possession of burglary tools and possession of paraphernalia. Both subjects were booked into the Ridgecrest jail.
