Boy Scout and Exchange Club take on B-Mountain Star Project
CHINA LAKE, – Aaron McCain, a Ridgecrest resident and Boy Scout, has adopted the B-Mountain Star as his Eagle project, working with the local community and the Navy to ensure that the star uses the latest energy-efficient materials and shines brightly over the community for years to come.
While the original foundation of the star remains, the electrical materials are weather-damaged beyond repair. Last year, the star was lit for only four days because of material conditions.
The Ridgecrest Exchange Club has joined forces with Aaron and has started a fund to facilitate buying the materials needed for the restoration and maintenance of the time-honored traditional star. The scope and execution of the project will be dependent on the donations received. If donations are sufficient, the star will be lit this year. All excess donations will be reserved for future maintenance costs.
The Ridgecrest Exchange Club requests that donations be mailed or delivered to The Desert Valleys Federal Credit Union, Attn: B-Mountain Star Project, 100 E. Ward Ave.,Ridgecrest, CA 93555
Checks should be made payable to the "CA/NV District Charitable Foun-dation" and annotated “The B-Mountain Star Project” in the memo section of the check.
