Community Showcase is Saturday

Come on out to see all the services available to you in the local area.

The 2012 Nonprofit Community Showcase, (formerly known as the Community Dinner, the Nonprofit Expo and the United Way Family Fun Fair), will happen at the Kerr McGee Center and Freedom Park on Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is free.

A barbecue dinner will be available for $10 (donation to your favorite nonprofit group), and when you purchase a ticket, you’ll get $30 worth of local coupons. Entertainment is included.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of China Lake and the United Way, this event will have booths both inside the Kerr McGee Center and outside in Freedom Park.

This will mark the 17th year for the Community Dinner, with the Expo and the Family Fun Fair now rolled into the same event.

Designed to allow nonprofits in and around our valley an opportunity to raise funds for their organization through ticket sales and to better inform the local community about their services, this year’s event promises to be the biggest and best ever, organizers say.

The success of the event will be measured in the number of tickets sold and the number of nonprofits participating.

Tickets are now available for purchase through participating nonprofit groups and their members.
