Local home destroyed by fire

Kern County Fire Department responds to an Oct. 1 home fire on South Rancho Street. According to reports, firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from multiple exits. Although crews were able to protect nearby structures, the flames caused some $250,000 in damage to the home. Officials have not yet released the cause of the fire. One person at the scene was treated for smoke inhalation.
