Bomb scare closes Norma Street

Bomb scare closes Norma StreetFire, police and bomb squad personnel are shown during the temporary closure of Norma Street between Las Flores Avenue and Ridgecrest Boulevard on Monday afternoon. According to Det. Ryan Sloan, the Ridgecrest Police Department was investigating a stolen vehicle case. “We received information that led us to believe there was possibly an explosive device rigged to the car.” When the car was located at the intersection of Norma and Coso streets, the area was roped off and nearby residents were notified and encouraged to evacuate. China Lake Explosive Ordnance Disposal arrived on scene and determined that there was no bomb. Sloan said the vehicle was returned to the owner.
