Supports Corlett for water district

To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Leroy Corlett for the IWV Water District Board of Directors.

Leroy Corlett is a long-term resident of this valley and has served as a water district board member for 17 years. He fully understands the day-to-day operation of the water district. He also completely understands the future challenges that lie ahead for supplying the water district customers from our dwindling aquifer and the crucial requirements to seek alternative water supplies from within or outside this valley.

Leroy Corlett steadfastly opposed the water district’s Water Supply Improvement Project because he correctly assessed that new wells and increasing the pumping capacities was not the proper long term solution. He further assessed that the Water Supply Improvement Project was totally unnecessary and a huge waste of the water district ratepayers’ money.

During the last five years, I have attended most water district board meetings, workshops, and committee meetings as a member of the public. I have observed, first hand, Leroy Corlett’s performance as a board member. I know his values and dedication.

His commitment to serve and his knowledge of the water issues that face the water district make him the caliber of individual required for the board of directors.

I strongly encourage all Ridgecrest voters to vote for and elect Leroy Corlett to the IWV Water District Board of Directors.
