Maturango Museum plans full schedule of events to celebrate 50 years of fun

The Maturango Museum invites the public to celebrate its first 50 years. See below for the schedule of events. In addition, the museum staff invites visitors to come look at the new exhibits — two new exhibits about the history of the museum, plus the mountain-lion exhibit described on page 9 — explore the activities planned by the docents and take a look around at the renovations, a major disruption at present, but promising a bright future of more than twice as much space.

Among the special events planned are dedication of the museum’s observatory in memory of Carroll Evans, museum volunteer extraordinaire, and an opportunity to hear talented young violin virtuoso Erica MacArthur, accompanied by some of our community’s most extraordinary musicians.

The museum store has stocked a variety of items with an anniversary flavor, including special-label Indian Wells Brewery beverages and beautiful wine glasses with the 50th-anniversary logo etched on them.

Don’t forget to ask for your complimentary booklet, containing a summary of the museum’s history by History Curator Liz Babcock, accompanied by numerous historic photos of museum activities and people.
