Chamber launches challenge to benefit one nonprofit

The Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce is launchin a special program that will help the community – and help one organization earn some much-needed funds.

The chamber seeks to expand its community outreach. Each week a community e-mail is sent to nearly 1,000 subscribers, informing them of chamber events, local happenings, and other necessary information. The goal is to greatly expand this list in an effort to help spread the word about what’s going on in Ridgecrest.

At the Community Nonprofit Showcase on Oct. 13, the chamber will present $1,000 to the local non-profit organization that helps collect the most e-mail addresses. The chamber has printed 5,000 cards and are ready to distribute to area organizations as many as are needed. Just collect a name (first and last) and an e-mail address and make sure the person writes the name of the organization of his or her choice on the line provided. Only e-mail addresses received on the original cards (no copies) will count.

“Our community thrives on the great work our local nonprofits provide Ridgecrest, and this is our way of giving back,” said Chamber President/CEO Nathan Ahle. “We hope all area nonprofits will participate in this program.

A starter package of cards has been mailed to more than 40 community nonprofits, but any non-profit benefiting the Ridgecrest, Inyokern and Trona area is eligible.
