Gail Marie Petty/Schoenhals
Gail Marie Petty/Schoenhals died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at San Joaquin Community Hospital from complications of a stroke.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 4 p.m. at the Salvation Army Chapel, 151 N. Downs St., Ridgecrest.
Gail Marie was born in Battle Creek. Mich., to Percy and Marie Petty on May 23, 1948.
Gail Marie moved to Ridgecrest is 1978 where she met and married Sam Schoenhals, the love of her life, in 1980. Gail was a very caring and compassionate individual. She worked as a real estate property manager where she helped people and families find a place to live. Then she worked at a temporary agency where she helped people find jobs so they could support themselves. Finally, she was a successful stockbroker and financial advisor with Edward Jones, where she assisted people in developing and managing their financial affairs.
Over the years Gail served on the boards of several organizations in Ridgecrest, including the Boys & Girls Club and the Salvation Army. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Indian Wells Valley and the Ridgecrest Lions Club. She had an inquisitive mind and was always searching for knowledge. She loved to read and to travel. She was very proud of the fact that, through her efforts, she and Sam were able to travel extensively to more than 25 countries.
Something that pleased and meant so much to her was being able to put on a big barbeque party for our veterans and the community.
Gail Marie is survived by her husband, Sam Schoenhals of Ridgecrest, her brother, Gary Petty and wife, Carol of Fairfax, Va., her stepchildren Mark and Magda Schoenhals and children Tessa and Alana of Boulder Colorado, Brett Schoenhals of Los Angeles, and Resa and Steve Labossiere of Castle Pines, Colo. She is also survived by a niece Katherine, a nephew Daniel and sisters-in-law Peggy and Lynn.
Gail Marie was preceded in death by her father, Percy Petty, her mother and stepfather, Marie Petty/Allen and Ed Allen, and her brother Gerald Petty.
In lieu of flowers, donations, in Gail’s name, may be made to the Salvation Army or to a charity of your choice.
