A coach to several local soccer teams has been arrested on charges of having an abusive relationship with a minor.

Chris Marshall, named head coach of the Burroughs High School girls soccer team in 2009, has been charged with felony counts of committing lewd or lascivious acts with a minor 14 or 15 years old, and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor as well as a single misdemeanor count of molesting a child.

It remains unclear how the accused and the victim became acquainted. SSUSD Superinten-dent Joanna Rummer has been contacted, but at press time, her response was not yet received. It is not yet known if the abuse was reported by SSUSD staff.

Last July a female teacher at Burroughs High School was accused of child molestation.

Marshall was arrested and booked and then released on $27,500 bail. Further details about the allegations and the details of the court case will become available this week, according to RPD officials.

Regardless of the outcome of the case, Marshall will not be coaching at next year. He was also a coach in local youth leagues. No reports have been made about his standing with those organizations.
