RAISING A GENERATION OF PROBLEM-SOLVERS: Dwight Morgan helps two of the more than 120 students at Monday

RAISING A GENERATION OF PROBLEM-SOLVERS: Dwight Morgan helps two of the more than 120 students at Monday's Scholastic Chess Tournament during a pre-tournament spar. For more than 20 years Morgan has been hosting a nine-tournament series at local schools, open to K12 students of the regions public, private and homeschooled students. Before retiring from Sierra Sands Unified School District he spent the last part of his career as an elementary school counselor, teaching critical thinking, problem-solving and sportsmanship through chess. Morgan was recognized with the SSUSD Community Service Award for his outreach to thousands of local students. Although most of the chess sets and other supplies have been paid for out of Morgan's pocket, he is seeking sponsorships to help defray the costs for the 2012-13 chess season.
